Port Blair, June 15: The rise in poaching and intrusion activities in Diglipur region is fast becoming a threat to national security now.
On June 12 few local residents sighted a small foreign boat abandoned at Loha Tikry area of Kishorinagar, Diglipur. Instantly they alerted the A & N Police. In the meantime some other residents spotted six people, who were preparing food or boiling something on the sea shore.
After getting info, when Police personnel from PS Diglipur, PS Kalighat and PS Kishorinagar, IRBN, PMF reached the spot, the intruders ran away. The Boat was seized by the Police, which was eight metre long and having two Honda engines with shaft technology to silence the sound of the boat.
A search operation was carried out inside the nearby jungle during which a IRBn personnel Mr. Manikannan went missing. Later another search operation was carried out to find out that IRBn Jawan.
On Sunday the Police Department with the help of the Forest Department fired warning rounds and hurled bombs to detect the IRBN personnel, because of which the missing IRBn personnel reached the spot and police team recovered him.
Meanwhile the Coast Guard, Territorial Army and IRBN are on High Alert including the A & N Police in this region. All efforts are being used to trace out the intruders who were on the boat.
Sources said that Fishermen of this region have been advised to be careful while venturing into the creeks or sea due to the threat of the intruders.
Experts believe that the seized Dinghy is so small that one cannot reach Diglipur without the help of any bigger mother boat, so all forces are in search of the bigger boat too.
