Port Blair, June 09: In a major Breakthrough the Andaman and Nicobar Police have cracked the case of Shivram Complex’s Burglary case and arrested eight people.
On 14 March 2015 some people entered KS Finance & SPS Finance shop (housed in single shop) at Shivram Complex and ran away with gold worth nearly 1 crore and 50 lakhs, which is considered as one of the biggest burglary in the history of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
However, police took more than a month to crack the case and taking advantage of this delay the main accused of the case has reportedly escaped to Tamil Nadu and with nearly 4 Kg of gold our of total 5.9 kg of gold approximately.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that the main accused of the case Mr. Veeramani is still absconding and a team of police is looking for him in Tamil Nadu.
When contacted the Dy.S.P(Havelock) Mr. B Saigal, who is looking after the charge of Dy. S.P (South Andaman) accepted that some people have been arrested but he did not reveal other details and said that the police is taking necessary action.
It has been learnt that three ladies, wives of the accused people, have also been arrested in this case and all the accused have been sent to Judicial Custody.
Till now police could recover only 1.9 kg of gold and some cash, it is expected that the police team will also be able to recover rest 4 KG of gold, which is still beyond reach.
