Port Blair, May 05: The Pahargaon Police here has solved a murder case, committed at Old Bimblitan, Teylerabad. According to a press release received here from the Superintendent of Police (SA), following a telephonic information received at PS Pahargaon Police team rushed to Old Bimblitan, Teylerabad and from the statement of one Shri Ramachandran, Panchayat member of Ward-3 R/o Teylerabad recorded at the spot revealed that 03/05/15 at about 1700 hrs while he was at his shop at Teylerabad, he was informed by a person namely Shri Srinivasan R/o Teylerabad that wife of Vinod Murmu was lying in an unconscious state in her house. On this, he alongwith other villagers including Vinod Murmu went to the house of Vinod Murmu and found that the front door was closed. He pushed the door opened and noticed that the wife of Vinod Murmu was lying motionless in pool of blood, oozing from her head injuries. He suspected that some unkown person had killed her. Upon this, a case vide crime No. 87/15 dt. 03/05/14 U/s 302 IPC was registered at this PS against unknown person and investigation was carried out under supervision of Shri B. Saigal, SDPO(South Andaman). The SP(D)SA also visited the spot. The Police team was headed by Insp. Hari Narayan, SHO PS Pahargaon.
The prime suspect, husband of the deceased, Vinod Murmu when put under sustained interrogation disclosed that there were frequent quarrels between him and the deceased Smti Chandi Devi. The previous day also, he had beaten her in the morning on some petty issues while a quarrel also took place between them in the evening over the issue of birth day of his daughter and the accused got angry & severely beat her with the intention to kill her and pushed her on to the wall of the house, due to which the deceased sustained severe head injury and soon succumbed to her injuries.
Accused Vinod Murmu, husband of the deceased has been arrested and will be produced in the Court of CJM for remand, the press release added.
