Port Blair, Apr 01: On 31 Mar 12, an information received from Police Control Room indicating an incident of snatching of provisions and other items from an Indian fishing boat off Kadamtala by 40 unidentified Hindi / Bangla speaking personnel onboard a wooden boat.
On receipt of the information, the Coast Guard plunged into a sea – air coordinated action and diverted ICG ship Kanaklata Barua commanded by Commandant (JG) SC Singh, operating at sea and launched CG Dornier from Port Blair. After extensive search, the boat was finally located off West Island in Northern Group of Islands by CG Dornier. The boat alongwith 135 Bangladeshi nationals was apprehended at 1300 hrs on 31 Mar 12.
The boat alongwith crew was brought to Diglipur and handed over to local Police on 01 Apr 12.
