Mayabuder, Dec 23: As per law the North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad should have a full time IAS officer as Chief Executive Officer and as per common sense the officers should be camped in the area, where the Zilla Parishad is situated.
But things are always other way round in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Presently the Assistant Commissioner of Diglipur, Dr. Vivek Kumar, a DANICS officer has been given the additional charges of CEO of N & M Andaman Zilla Parishad.
To make mockery of system, Dr. Vivek Kumar was first stationed as Diglipur and then he was made CEO of N & M Zilla Parishad and hence for every small and big works of N&M ZP, he has to come all the way from Diglipur in a vehicles with other supporting staffs.
Everybody knows that it takes roughly 2 hours 30 minutes to reach Mayabunder from Diglipur and hence in a normal day the AC Diglipur has to travel for five long hours in his official vehicle, burning government fuel, to perform duties of CEO Mayabunder.
One can easily understand that after wasting five long hours in journey, how much the officer can perform at Mayabuder.
Not only this, whenever he visits Mayabunder the works of Diglipur region deeply suffer.
Often officials of other departments are called by the CEO of Zilla Parishad in morning hours but due to delay in his arrival, he makes them to wait for hours and meets them late in the evening.
People of North and Middle Andaman demand that when Mr. Sanjay Kumar, IAS is already present in Mayabuder as DC, why can’t Administration appoint him as CEO, why an officer from far off place like Diglipur has been given the additional charges since such a long time.
Hope the Chief Secretary to look into this matter and appoint an IAS officer as CEO of North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad and station him at Mayabunder or else atleast the DC of N & M Andaman will be given this charge, for the convenience of people of both Diglipur and Mayabunder Regions.
