Port Blair, Dec. 03: The Patwari of RK Gram, Diglipur, Mr. Sudip Saha, who was arrested by the team of Anti-Corruption Unit on Dec. 2, 2013 for demanding and taking bribe of Rs. 5000/-, has been produced before the Court today from where he has been remanded to judicial custody.
He was arrested for taking bribe from the complainant for preparing and forwarding the report to his application for sub-division of parental landed property at RK Gram, Diglipur. This is the third such arrest in the last two months by the Anti-Corruption Unit.
On receipt of information regarding demand of bribe by the alleged officer, a trap laying team was formed along with independent witnesses on Dec. 1 and deputed to Diglipur. A written complaint was submitted by the complainant on Dec. 2 that Shri. Sudip Saha, Patwari of RK Gram, Diglipur is demanding Rs.5000/- for preparing and forwarding the report to his application for sub-division of parental landed property. Subsequently, FIR under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at PS Anti-Corruption and the trap laying team comprising of independent witnesses camped at Diglipur swung into action. The trap team raided at the office of alleged officer and caught him red handed with the tainted bribe money of Rs.5,000/-.
The said Patwari is posted at Diglipur since 2007.
“Meanwhile, the general public is requested to give information about corrupt activities of any public servant to the Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Unit on No. 9531856296 or to the Dy.SP (AC) on No. 9531856151 and can also email the complaint at spac.and@nic.in,” a communication from SP, Anti Corruption Unit said here today.
