Port Blair, Nov 20: To raise the voice for the reservation for locals in the Govt. Jobs in Andaman and Nicobar Island, Voice of Islanders conducted a rally in the southernmost Island of India, Great Nicobar.
The rally was reported to be the first rally of Voice of Islanders. Nearly two thousand (2000) people participated in the rally which started off from Campbell Bay Community Hall and halted for a public meeting at Jetty Bazaar in Campbell Bay.
The members of the Voice of Islanders told Andaman Sheekha that they are planning to conduct many more rallies on this issue and the next rally is scheduled on 30th of November. The members of the Voice of Islanders informed Andaman Sheekha that if the Administration does not introduce reservation for the locals then they will call for Andaman and Nicobar Bandh and even after that if the Administration does not accept their demand they will go on indefinite hunger strike along with the school and college students from all over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The residents of Great Nicobar Islands in one voice today demanded for the reservation for locals in Govt. Jobs and the rally turned out to be a huge success. A large gathering of unemployed youths were seen and many of the youth leaders delivered inspiring speeches to motivate the crowd.
