Diglipur, Sept 22: On last Friday the Session Court at Port Blair pronounced a historical Judgment imposing death penalty on the accused R P Raj, in the sensational double rape and murder case of Diglipur, which took place way back in 2008.
But what about the three other accused Rafiq (name changed as minor), Tariq (name changed as minor) and Krishna (name changed as minor). Call it their luck or failure of our system, all these three co-accused are now free bird like any other normal person, just because they were minor during the incident, although investigation shows that they had played important role in the heinous crime.
When the minor accused of Delhi Gang Rape got advantage of being minor in court, whole nation expressed concerns but in Andaman’s double Murder and Rape Case, there is no one even to express concern.
“Even if they were sentenced for lifetime it would have been adjusted with their tenure they spend in the juvenile home as in view the maximum sentence for the minor is 3.5 years,” said a family member of one of the victim girl.
After spending 3.5 years in the Juvenile Home now they are free as like any other normal person. Although during their term in juvenile Home many times they tried in Session Court as well as in High Court for bail which was then rejected.
Speaking exclusively with Andaman Sheekha, the mother of one of the victim girls, expressed satisfaction over the verdict given by the Sessions court to R P Raj.
“This must be the lesson for the sick peoples who even think of committing such crimes,” she said.
However, talking to Andaman Sheekha the father of another victim girl expressed satisfaction as far as the judgment regarding RP Raj is concerned but he expressed deep concern and anguish for releasing the three other minor accused, who were equally involved in the murder case.
