Port Blair, Sept 15: Regarding non availability of full time Drun Inspectors, Andaman Sheekha contacted Dr. S.K. Paul, Director of Health Services. Talking to Andaman Sheekha Dr. Paul informed that the qualification for a Drug Inspector is Diploma/ B. Pharm (Pharmalogical) and both the ex-officio staffs posses the required qualifications.
“We have already informed the administration about the Ex-officio being made in-charge for Drug Inspectors and if administration still sees requirement for regular Drug Inspectors and announces vacancies then we are ready to appoint as we are no authority to announce vacancies,” Dr. Paul added.
He further added that as per the Govt. of India, generic medicines are to be distributed in these Islands in the Govt. Hospitals but the D.H.S in these Islands also provide other medicines procured from private vendors so that they provide better facilities to the people of the Islands and for people to avoid buying medicines from Medical Stores.
He also added that Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, East Zones looks after the quality of the medicines been provided and they have full details about the medicines along with the manufacturing and expiry dates of stocks and daily mail alerts are received from CDSCO about the medicines which are expiring in the near future and accordingly the stocks are sent back to CDSCO by the DHS for inspection.
