Poor BSNL Services in Car Nicobar-MP Expresses Concern
Car Nicobar, Aug 11: The poor Telecommunication services of the BSNL have made life miserable in Car Nicobar. Many village captains of the region complained the Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, about this problem, during his recent visit to the Island. The MP himself found that the services at head quarter or the adjoining areas are somewhat satisfactory but the condition becomes worse at the outer areas. Even at the nearby Tamaloo village the network is not available most of the times. The villages like Big Lapathy, Mus, and Aerong are out of the coverage area of the Network.
When Mr. Ray reached the Aerong village yesterday evening, the people informed him that the Network is unavailable for a long time. The second captain of the village Mr. Sunny James told that the BSNL Tower at the village is not functioning since the day of its installation. The generator is not working and the people of this distantly located village are totally cut-off from the other part. The situation becomes very pitiable when the people want to call the ambulance to take the seriously ill person to the hospital, but in the absence of communication network they could not do so. Mr. Sunny James suggested that the Administration should allow the other Telecommunication Companies too, to operate in Car Nicobar, so that the People are not left to their fate. Then the villagers would have options to use the other available networks.
The second captain told that he has written many letters to the BSNL Authorities, requesting them to make the tower functional, but nothing has been done so far. Even no staff has ever been posted to this village. Mr. Ray assured him that he will talk to the higher authorities, to improve the communication facilities in this region.
