Car Nicobar, Aug 11: The 5 days long In service workshop, under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, for the Graduate Trained Teachers of Mathematics and Science, concluded today. In the valedictory function held at the conference hall of the Education Office, the Chief Guest, Education Officer Mr. H. Nathaniel called upon the teachers to apply the techniques in their schools, which they learnt in the workshop. He appreciated the participants for showing interest in preparing effective e-contents using the Information Communication Technology, during the workshop. He has words of praise for the teaching aids of Mathematics and Science, prepared by the teachers. Mr. Nathaniel said the task of the teachers of Science and Mathematics is very challenging here as the students at the Senior level, lack basic knowledge. He emphasized that the use of the ICT tools and working models, make the class rooms lively and interesting. He informed that the Deputy Director Mr. Dharmendra Kumar in his recent visit to this Island, insisted that all the schools should adopt the model of ‘Building as Learning Aid’ BALA. Very soon a meeting will be convened by the Deputy Commissioner to explore this possibility, he informed.
The Education Officer said that it has been decided to conduct mock drills in all the schools periodically. He asked the teachers to train their students about the safety and rescue measures, taken during the Disasters.
Earlier the Workshop Co-coordinator Mr. B. D. Singh while welcoming the guests, explained about the various activities conducted during the workshop. Smti R. Bindu, Suguna Mary and Joy Mukherjee shared their experience of the workshop and told that the workshop has been very useful to the teachers as they got to know about the use of various new teaching techniques . Resource Person Mr. Anil Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
