Newborn baby adopted through a Notary Deed was disowned by her mother

Rangat, June 16: Andaman Sheekha had recently reported that how a newborn baby has been adopted by a couple illegally by signing a Notary Deed. Andaman Sheekha’s investigation revealed that the girl child was born to a girl, Rekha (Name Changed) from North Andaman and soon after her birth the girl child was handed over to a couple of Swadesh Nagar. Though Police Department is maintaining that the mother was married to a Kolkata based person, who left the women, when she was eight month pregnant, but Andaman Sheekah sources said that the marriage never happened.

Perhaps this was the reason why the mother disowned the new born baby and went back to North Andaman to lead a normal life. Though there is nothing wrong in adopting a child but as per the law the adoption should be legal as in this case a girl child’s future is at the stake.
Hope the A & N Police and Social Welfare Board will be able to rescue the girl child for now and allow this adoption only when all the legal documents are singed as per the law.
