Kalighat, May 08: Nearly six hour long daily power cuts at Kalighat area of Diglipur has left residents of the area high and dry. This is not only troubling general public but also causing huge loss to business owners.
Worst hit is perhaps PHC Kalighat. According to highly placed sources due to six hour long power cut it has become almost impossible to preserve crucial vaccine. Health workers fear that this six hour long power cuts may lead to damage of vaccine, which may lead to reaction in patients and even a mega disaster.
PHC Kalighat has power back up facility but only in the new building. The old building, where vaccines are kept, is not connected with the new building.
The matter was taken up with the senior officials of Electricity Department today by the Youth Congress General Secretary A & N Islands Mr. Boby. During the meeting senior officials of Electricity Department has assured to look into this matter and fix the problem as soon as possible.
