Port Blair, Apr 10: An officer of Indian Police Service (IPS) Cadre, Dr. B. Srikanth today died at remote Car Nicobar Island due to cardiac arrest.
According to reports, Dr. Srikanth, who was posted as Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, A & N Islands, suffered cardiac arrest at around 09.15 AM, when he was in his government quarter.
Dr. Srikanth was immediately rushed Bishop John Richardson Hospital of Car Nicobar, where he was declared brought dead.
He was a 2004 batch IPS officer and was serving as the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District since May, 2012.
The body of Dr. Srikanth was shifted from Car Nicobar to Port Blair, the capital city of A & N Islands at 3.35 PM in helicopter.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the District Administration, Nicobars, the Assistant Commissioner of Nicobar District has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members at this time of grief and sorrow.
“We pray to the Almighty God for his soul to rest in peace. He was a sincere and dedicated officer. He had a very good and congenial relationship with the Nicobarese tribal Community and others,” a press release issued by Nicobar District Administration said here today.
