Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 25: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Training Centre at Sri Vijaya Puram had the honour of hosting the Director of Sports, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, during the Induction Programme for newly selected athletes.
The visit marked a significant moment as the sports Director, A&N admin, Mr. Vikram Singh interacted with budding athletes, inspected the training campus, and extended his best wishes to the young sportspersons embarking on their athletic journey. This year, for the first time selection trials were conducted in various parts of islands like Harminder bay, Hutbay, Nancowry, Shoal bay etc. It marks a major shift in the history of SAI.
The occasion was further graced by the presence of Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman District, and Dr. Shweta Bajaj, Lecturer at DBRAIT and a certified yoga trainer, both of whom lent their support and encouragement to the athletes and staff.
In her concluding address, Mrs. Debasmita Bal Chamadia, Assistant Director, Sports Authority of India, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, coaches, parents, and staff members for their continued support and dedication toward nurturing the next generation of athletes.
The induction programme underscored SAI’s ongoing efforts to expand the reach of sports and provide structured training and infrastructure to talented youth from every corner of the islands
