Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 28: Today on 28.03.2025,the 1stGeneral Body meeting was convened for the Khushi Block Level Federation (BLF) of CD block Prathrapur, marking a significant milestone in the federation’s journey. The program was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary (RD)/Deputy Commissioner, South District and Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman. Mr.D. Satyanarayan, Up-Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti Prothrapur; Mr. Bhoominathan,Zilla Parishad Member; Mr.Yegambharam, Pradhan Calicut; and Mrs. Jyothi, Pradhan Sippighat also joined the inaugural session of the meeting to mark the support of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) for development and upliftment of SHGs in their areas.
Mrs. Bhanumati, Community Resource Person (CRP), GP Beodnabad along with Mrs. Beena Bala, President Khushi BLF and Mrs. Sunita, Treasure Khushi BLF welcomed the dignitaries. Thereafter, Mrs. Gurjeet Kaur, Block Development Officer, CD Block Prothrapur made a presentation about implementation of DAY-NRLM Scheme in the CD Block Prothrapur and showcase the achievements of the SHGs and its federations.
The meeting witnessed the felicitation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Village Organizations by the dignitaries for their outstanding performance and adherence to the norms and guidelines of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) scheme followed by felicitation of Atamnirbhar Lakhpati Didi’s of the SHGs under the Kushi BLF. A business venture for production of Coconut Clips made by Mrs. Bhanumati, member of Sri Guru SHG and CRP Beodnabad was also launched by the Secretary (RD).
The Secretary (RD) appreciated the efforts made by the SHGs of Prothrapur Block and also encouraged the ladies to come up with innovative ideas for livelihood, assuring them of necessary support for their business expansion and development.
Thereafter, representatives from line departments, including Social Welfare, Agriculture, Health, Veterinary Services, Industries and Police, created awareness about various women welfare schemes being implemented by them and encouraged the ladies to avail benefits under them. The SHG members enquired about different schemes for support of their business and requested for skill development training to start initiative for their livelihood. The meeting also featured a Rangoli making competition, with winners being felicitated. SHG members showcased their handmade products at stalls, selling them after the meeting.
During the closing sessions, Mrs. Sapna Priya, Director (RD/PRIs)/ State Mission Director (ANIRLM) also attended the program, encouraging SHG members to work hard and avail benefits under various schemes. She assured to provide all necessary support from the Rural Development Department for welfare of its SHGs.
This event demonstrates the federation’s commitment to empowering rural women and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
