ICAR-KVK, SA Conducts Training on ‘‘Promotion of Cultivation of Spices’’

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 18: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Andaman under the administrative control of CIARI, Sri VijayaPuram conducted two days training programme on ‘‘Promotion of cultivation of spices ’’from 06/02/2025 to 07/02/2025at Ravindernagar, Hut Bay, Little Andaman. The chief guest of the training Mrs. Sangeetha Vishwas, Pradhan, Ravindernagar, Hut Bay, Little Andaman encouraged farmers to take up intercultivation of spices during her address. Training coordinator Ms. Sushma (Subject Matter Specialist, Horticulture) delivered a lecture on importance of spices under Island conditions. Mr. Mohit (Subject Matter Specialist, Plant Protection) emphasized integrated pest and disease management in coconut, arecanut and vegetables during the training. Practical demonstration of multiplication of black pepper through a single node cutting method was taken up. Trainees were taught about the process of harvesting of cinnamon. A total of thirteen people attended the training out of which six were male farmers and seven were farm women. The training was organized under the guidance of Dr. E B Chkaurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
