Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 13: In the remembrance of Late Dr. T.C. Khatri, Former HOD Zoology, JNRM and popularly known as Butterfly man of Islands, the 8th Dr. T.C. Khatri Memorial Lecture was organized at seminar hall, JNRM on 12th Feb 2025 to recall his contribution for institution and for lepidopteron biodiversity of the Islands. This year Dr. Vinod Kumar Mudumala, Zonal Director, Fishery survey of India was the speaker of the memorial lecture. He speaks upon Marine fishery resource of Andaman and Nicobar Islands with special reference to Code of Conduct for responsible fisheries (CCRF, FAO, 1995). Dr. Mudumala discusses the fish fauna of Indian waters in detailed. He stressed on sustainable fishery and suggested the dos and don’ts of fish harvest. He also motivate students to join research organization like FSI, ZSI, BSI, CIARI, ICMR or NIOT in or outside the Islands after completion their Masters. Ms. Pearl Devdas in her presidential address speaks on contribution of Dr. T.C. Khatri and urged to the gathering to learn from his illustrious achievements. She also congratulates the department for continuing memorial lecture. Earlier in the welcome address, Dr. V. K. Sahu, Assistant Professor and convener, highlighted the motto and activities of The Nature Club. Vote of thanks was proposed by Afsheen Ashraf while entire programme was moderate by Sushma Kumari and Sunitha, The Nature club. The memorial lecture was witnessed by Faculty and students of Zoology.
