Baratang, 06 February: Mr. R. Alagerswamy, Zilla Parishad Member, Sundergarh Constituency has recently met Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Sri Vijaya Puram and discussed a number of vital topics and projects of the Baratang region.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, the ZPM of Sundergarh Constituency said that he met Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Sri Vijaya Puram recently and discussed with the Chief Secretary on a number of key issues linked to the holistic development of Sundergarh and Baratang region.
Mr. Alagerswamy said that Bhalu Dera Beach Mela was a much cherished festival in the region that was suspended after COVID; and since the Mela is significant in terms of a medium of entertaining for the locals, the ZPM said it was fruitful discussion on it and Bhalu Dera Beach Mela is reportedly now set to return soon.
Helicopter Service from Baratang to Sri Vijaya Puram was another vital topic found place in the discussion, the ZPM said. With the newly constructed helipad, the much-needed connectivity will soon be a reality; Trial runs will begin shortly, followed by regular operations, Alagerswamy claimed.
The entire Nilambur Market area is reportedly allotted to the Forest Dept. and which is reportedly thwarting Zilla Parishad Member, Pradhan, and Samiti Member (three-tier governance) from initiating developmental projects in the region, he alleged.
However, he made a formal request to the Chief Secretary to impress upon the authority of the Forest Dept. to handover the land to the Revenue Department for the betterment of the Baratang community, and to which the CS reportedly assured to take necessary steps to this effect, the ZPM maintained.
The Chief Secretary reportedly gave a patient hearing to Mr. R. Alagerswamy and positively assured swift action on all these crucial matters, he said. On behalf of the people of Baratang, Mr. R. Alagerswamy extended heartfelt gratitude to the CS for these initiatives, the ZPM further added.
