Harinagar, January 06: The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Harinagar, Mr. Manojit Halder has raised the issue of dumping of huge quantity of quarry earth and quarry rubbish at Harinagar quarry; and propounding a suggestion, he also appealed to the Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman to issue the quarry earth & rubbish so dumped to the needy general public on royalty payment basis.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman, Mayabunder, Mr. Halder apprised the DC of dumping of huge quantity of quarry earth and quarry rubbish at Harinagar quarry. In fact, there is a natural nallah that flows through the areas and close to which the quarry earth was reportedly dumped, as alleged by the Pradhan and which will in turn pose serious risk of blockage in the nallah during the coming rainy season thereby leading to potential flooding and also consequent losses to general public in the region, Mr. Manojit Halder further added in the letter.
On the other hand, there is reportedly a consistent demand of earth in this area for land development and construction purposes by the general public. Furthermore, the Harinagar GP Pradhan urged the Deputy Commissioner to pay attention to the matter, and propounding a suggestion, he also appealed to the DC to issue the quarry earth & rubbish so dumped to the needy general public on royalty payment basis which will serve double the purposes- firstly, the risk of flooding may be eliminated, and secondly, the needy general public requiring earth for their land development and construction purposes will be undeniably and profusely benefitted if the quarry earth & rubbish is issued to the needy general public on royalty payment basis, as claimed by Mr. Halder in the letter.
