Port Blair, Dec 29: The 12th Andaman & Nicobar State Conference of Communist Party of India (Marxist) began on 28th December, 2024 at Port Blair with a massive procession followed by public meeting at Tiranga Park. Hundreds of party workers and sympathisers participated in the mass procession which was led by D. Ayyappan, Secretary and State Secretariat Members of CPI (M).
The mass procession converged into a huge public meetng at Tiranga Park at 5 p.m. Inaugurating the public meeting, G. Ramakrishnan, Polit Bureau Member of CPI (M) said that CPI (M) is the only party in the country which conducts conferences and elect new Committees democratically from Branch level upto Central Committee.
He said that the Modi government’s policies are pushing more and more people to the brink of poverty while tax concessions of lakhs of rupees are given to corporates like Adani and Ambani.
He said that Hindutva ideology is being widely propagated with a view to have division among the people on communal lines. He said that the BJP is afraid of even uttering the name of BR Ambedkar.
Addressing the public meeting, Dr Sujan Chakraborty, Ex-MP and Central Committee Member of the party said that hundreds of revolutionaries who fought against Britishers were deported to A&N Islands, jailed in the Cellular Jail and many of them were killed by the Britishers. He further said that the Modi government is working only for the interests of corporate in the country. He said that this government is representing only the 1% of the population in the corporate while the 99% of the ordinary people are neglected.
D. Ayyappan, State Secretary briefly explained the on-going Party Conferences all over the country. Nikunjo Biswas, State Secretariat Member also addressed the meeting. B. Chandrachoodan, Chairman, Reception Committee, who presided over the meeting, welcomed the participants and leaders in the meeting. D. Laxman Rao, State Secretariat Member proposed vote of thanks.
