Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 22: The Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre organized a three-day Training workshop on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity of Island Ecosystem under the Training of Personnel of Other Services sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India from Dec.19 to 21,2024 which concluded this evening in the Auditorium of ZSI.
Dr. E.B. Charkurkar, Director, ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, A & N Islands was the chief guest of the valedictory function while Dr. S. Dinesh Kannan, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Department of Environment and Forests was the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, congratulated all the participants for engaging with this unique and enriching training program. He mentioned the importance of environment and ecosystem stating that the environment is not just air or water; it is a complex system, a delicate balance of soil, air, water, plants, animals, bacteria, and viruses. All of these components are interconnected, and any disturbance to one part of the system affects the entire ecosystem, he remarked.
In his address, Dr. S. Dinesh Kannan, shared his experience during the workshop.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Course Director, mentioned about the objectives of the training course and presented the course report of the three days training workshop.
