Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 18: In order to ensure and improve road safety, A & N Traffic Police has conducted a meeting with garage owners under the chairmanship of Mr. Ajay Kr. Rai, DANIPS (Dy. SP Traffic) to discuss the issues of traffic congestion due to abandoned vehicles. During the meeting the following key directives issued which are as under:
Removal of Abandoned Vehicles – All garage owners have been directed to remove their unused/abandoned vehicles on road side/footpath within one month.
Scrapping of Unclaimed Vehicles – Vehicles that remain unclaimed for extended periods or owner refuses to claim, should be proceeded for scrap or processed legally.
No Roadside Repairs – All vehicle repairs, maintenance and mending work must take place within the confines of the garage and not on public roads.
RC Verification – Garage owners must ensure that the vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC) is verified before undertaking any major repairs that might change the identity of the vehicle.
Prohibition on Unauthorized Modifications – Unauthorized modifications to vehicles that could compromise road safety are prohibited.
Handling of Stolen Vehicles – Garage owners are required to immediately report any suspected stolen vehicles that are brought for repairs or modification. These vehicles should not be worked on unless cleared by the police and garage owners should cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies in tracking and recovering stolen vehicles.
The Traffic Police will be closely monitoring compliance with these issues and will take necessary action against those who do not adhere the directions.
