Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 12: The valedictory function of State Level Bhartiya Bhasha Utsav was held at Dr. S.R. District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Garacharma yesterday. The function marked the culmination of the week-long celebration of India’s rich linguistic diversity across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Director of Education, Dr. Jatinder Sohal was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, he stressed on the importance of Indian languages in unifying the people and maintaining harmony in society. He emphasized the need to promote and preserve India’s linguistic heritage.
Earlier, in his welcome address, HoO, (Edu) DDE (Academics/ Personnel), DEO, South Andaman and Principal, Dr. S.R. DIET, Shri Gyan Sheel Dubey, highlighted the importance of a multilingual society in the A&N Islands and the role of schools in nourishing multilingual culture among students.
The vibrant program witnessed a multilayered presentation of traditional dances, multilingual songs and poems, and a very interesting display of food stalls from various States by the teacher trainees of the institute. A colorful and impressive multilingual act by the students of GSSS Garacharma was an added attraction.
The spectacular program was also attended by Smt. Jyoti, Vice Principal and CRC Coordinator, CRC Garacharma, faculties from SIE and DIET, DIET’s teacher trainees, teachers, and students from various CRCs. The function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri. J.Govind Raju, Faculty /Samagra Shiksha In-charge, Dr. S.R. DIET.
