Port Blair, Dec 03: The District Administration, as part of its ongoing efforts to protect government land, has successfully carried out eviction operations against fresh encroachments in Garacharama village, Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil and Guptapara village, Ferrargunj Tehsil.
In Garacharama village, unauthorized construction in the form of katcha structure on government revenue land was removed. A total of 0.01 hectares of land has been restored to the government khaata.
At Guptapara village, encroachment on government revenue land, opposite the GMS Guptapara playground, was cleared. The encroachment included banana and arecanut plantations, fencing, and other structures on land recorded as grazing land. The eviction operation resulted in the recovery of 0.2100 hectares of land. Additionally, 43 encroaching trees were removed during the operation.
The District Administration remains committed to safeguarding government lands and ensuring their appropriate use for public benefit. Encroachments on government property will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
