Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 29 :A meeting was held under the Chairpersonship of the Director (IP&T), Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, in the conference hall of the Department of Disaster Management today in connection with the upcoming ‘Island Tourism Festival’-2024 which will be organized by the Tourism Department in association with the line Departments.
Chairing the meeting, the Director (IP&T) informed that the ‘Island Tourism Festival’ will be conducted from Dec. 27 to 31, 2024. The five days festival will see performances by artistes from mainland as well the Islands at 13 designated venues including ITF Ground for the entertainment of the Islanders and tourists alike. Local Cultural Associations will get ample opportunity to perform at different locations. The Director (IP&T) has urged all the line Departments to put their best effort to make the event a grand success. Like previous years, all popular events such as ‘Healthy Baby Show’, ‘Flower Show’, ‘Dog Show’ and Rangoli competition will be organised. The main attraction of ITF, the ‘Hasya Kavi Samelan’ will be organised by the Official Language Department. Fun games for children will also be available at the ITF Ground. Apart from this, the Island Tourism Festival will feature delicious food courts selling mouth watering cuisines & eatables, attractive handicrafts etc. Different Departments of the Administration will also take part in the ITF and depict the developmental activities taking place in A&N Islands through their stalls. Representatives from different line Departments attended the meeting.
The Island Tourism Festival is organized by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration during the winter month of December to provide a common platform where one and all irrespective of colour, caste and religion participate with equal dedication and gaiety promoting and strengthening the spirit of brotherhood. Islanders as well as the tourists alike are waiting for the gala event to unfold on Dec. 27. The festival projects the image of the Islands as an Eco-friendly tourist destination.
