Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 29 : The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS inspected the ongoing construction of Marine Esplanade near Flag Point to assess the progress of this project today. The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary (SVPMC), Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, Chief Engineer, APWD and other senior officials of APWD and SVPMC accompanied the inspection.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the current status of the project and emphasized the need for expediting its completion in order to minimize disruption for commuters. Acknowledging the importance of the location, he directed officials to ensure strict adherence of timelines while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Specific instructions were issued to address safety concerns in the area by installing adequate lighting to eliminate dark patches and displaying clear signage and caution boards to ensure the safety and convenience of pedestrians and commuters. The Chief Secretary also directed the authorities to focus on making the walkway aesthetically pleasing, blending with the scenic beauty of the area, to add value for both residents and tourists.
The concerned authorities were directed to complete the walkway, enabling the commuters to walk unhindered along the sea coast from Marina Park to Corbyn’s Cove.
