Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 19: In 1985, by an Act of Parliament, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was established as a Central University to meet the educational needs of millions of people; thus emerged as ‘People’s University’. The success of IGNOU in reaching the ‘unreached’ sections of India is a great achievement in higher education of our Country. The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been accorded A++ grade by NAAC and nirf ranked #1 in category of Open Universities.
The Sri Vijaya Puram – Regional Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), has reached the unreached population and provided higher education to nearly 71,000 Students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands since its inception in 2006 with 08 active Learner Support Centres spread in different Islands of Andaman and Nicobar. The Regional Centre of IGNOU at Sri Vijaya Puram has celebrated the 39th Foundation Day of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) at its premises on 19th November, 2024.
