Mayabunder, Nov 1: In preparation for the upcoming Territorial Army test scheduled for November 6, 2024, former Pramukh of Mayabunder, Mr. Abdul Siddique, has requested the North & Middle Andaman District administration and the Directorate of Shipping Services to arrange special boat services for candidates from the region.
Mr. Siddique highlighted that numerous candidates from Mayabunder and Diglipur are required to travel to Sri Vijaya Puram ahead of the test date, necessitating a dedicated boat service on the night of November 3 and returning on November 4. This would allow candidates to reach the test venue in time and make necessary arrangements before the examination.
He pointed out a recent notice (No. M/AFL(OPN.)/6-1/2024/1041) issued on October 30, 2024, which indicated a disruption of boat services between Sri Vijaya Puram and Mayabunder from November 1 to November 8, 2024. Previously, vessels such as M.V. Nalanda and M.V. Sindhu offered services every alternate day, which ensured reliable transportation for the residents of Mayabunder. The temporary suspension has raised concerns, particularly as it affects candidates who must now seek alternative arrangements for their crucial travel needs.
Mr. Siddique urged the Deputy Commissioner and the Director of Shipping Services to review the matter and reinstate a boat service on November 3 and November 4 specifically for the Territorial Army test candidates. “This arrangement would ease travel for the candidates, allowing them to arrive at the test venue in a timely manner,” said Mr. Siddique.
