Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 29: The Ministry of Ayush celebrates Ayurveda Day every year on Dhanvantari Jayanti/Dhanteras. This year, the Ministry is celebrating it in collaboration with all other Ministries and Departments of Government of India from 30th September – 29th October, 2024, so that every person of the nation is made aware of traditional Ayurvedic System of Medicine.
The emphasis, this year was in showcasing Ayurveda’s potential to improve global Health through innovative practices and natural treatment methods. Ayurveda’s core strength lies in its holistic approach to health, which emphasizes prevention, health promotion, natural healing. Themes to celebrate weekly events for Jan Bhagidari are Ayurveda and Women’s Health, Ayurveda Innovations and Entrepreneurship, Ayurveda and Workplace Wellness, Ayurveda for Wellness at Schools, Ayurveda Ahara and Innovations.
The State function of ‘9th Ayurveda Day’ in the UT was organized at Community Hall, Guptapara today by the AYUSH Wing of Directorate of Health Services and A & N State AYUSH Society.
Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services, A&N Administration, graced the event as chief guest while Shri Prakash Adhikari, Member, Zilla Parishad, Guptapara was the guest of honour. Shri Nirmal Sarkar, Panchayat Samiti Member, Guptapara, Shri Durlab Das, Pradhan, Guptapara village and other PRIs of the area were also present at the event. Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, DD (AYUSH) welcomed the gathering. The exhibition on Ayurvedic Medicinal Plants, Panchakarma Therapies and Healthy Food Recipes was inaugurated by the chief guest.
Free Ayurveda Medical Camp was conducted for the public by the Doctors of AYUSH. Apart from Camp, free medicinal plants were also distributed to the public. The certificates and cash prizes were distributed by the distinguished guests to the winners of the various competitions conducted by the AYUSH during the monthlong celebration of Ayuveda Day at various places. During the event, the ASHA and Anganwadi workers of the area exhibited various healthy and innovative recipes prepared from millets and natural sources.
From 12:30 pm onwards, the speech of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi was webcasted in the hall. The programme were coordinated by Dr. Rekha, Specialist (Panchakarma). Around 200 village people benefited from this programme.
The PM’s speech and inauguration of various projects and welfare schemes from All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, was also webcasted by the Health Department at more than 39 other Public Places/Health Institutions across the UT with participation of more than 2500 people, in collaboration with other line Departments.
