Diglipur, Oct 24: The Primary Health Centre at Radhanagar is in dilapidated condition. According to information, the age-old Primary Health Centre building at Radhanagar is in decrepit condition. The residents of the area said that patients are being put at risk by “dilapidated” Radhanagar PHC building and facilities.
Patients and staff are using the PHC building with “leaking roofs” while the PHC has not been able to replace old building materials which are at risk of “sudden collapse”, the patients and the residents in the area warned.
Several cracks have developed in the walls while rainwater starts seeping through the walls of the wards of the PHC where patients are admitted, adding to their woes. And not only that, during the rainy season water drips/dribbles from the ceiling right on the beds in the male wards, they rued.
The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Radhanagar also said that Primary Health Centre building at Radhanagar is in pitiable state and which needs immediate renovation. In fact, the present rundown condition of the PHC building poses “major risks” to “patient safety, the Pradhan forewarned.
She reportedly urged the concerned authorities multiple times to repair the building for the sake of patients and the medical staff, but no concrete step was reportedly taken to put the PHC building in the right condition, she alleged.
Andaman Sheekha Daily when contacted the Senior Official of the CHC, Diglipur over phone, he said that the paper works in respect of the renovation of the Radhanagar PHC building is pending in the Office of the CE, APWD, Sri Vijaya Puram and its tender process is in progress.
Amid all this, the residents availing the service of the Radhanagar PHC only want that the PHC building is renovated without further delay thereby providing the patients and the health service staff safety, they urged.
