Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 25: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee under the leadership of its President Shri Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Shri TSG Bhasker, held a Black Day observance on 25th October,2024 in front of Gandhi Bhavan, Port Blair to express dismay over denial of their Appointment letter to meet the Minister of Power Shri. Manohar Lal Khattar who is on a visit to A&N Islands to discuss major power crisis issues in A&N Islands.
The demonstration highlighted the pressing issue of inadequate power supply, Frequent Load Shedding across Andaman and Nicobar Islands and inefficiency of Administration in solving these issues.
The protest underscored the mounting frustration of the Islanders due to persistent power supply issues, as well as the Congress Party’s repeated attempts to address the matter directly with the concerned authorities.
Congress leaders were ready with Black flags to show the Minister as he was about to pass by the Congress Office to visit the Power House. But knowing about this protest, the Administration dramatically changed the route of the Minister afraid from the Congress Party.
Senior Party leaders, including ANTCC Chief Spokesperson Shri K Ganeshan, Mahila Congress Coordinator (South Andaman) Smt. Zubaida Begum, City Congress President Shri Mohd Zubair, NSUI State President Mr. M.A Sajid, State President INTUC(Federation) Shri. K.P Usman, City Congress General Secretary Shri Raj Reddy and party workers took part in the protest. They voiced their concerns through speeches and slogans, calling for immediate government intervention to resolve the Island’s power supply issues.
