Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: In honor of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the Andaman & Nicobar Mahila Congress, under the leadership of Ms. V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Coordinator of the Mahila Congress, organized a vibrant drawing competition at Seva Niketan, Dairy Farm.
The event began with floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi by the members and inmates of Seva Niketan. Around 30 children from the Orphan Home enthusiastically participated in the competition, showcasing their creativity and love for the nation by depicting the life and values of Mahatma Gandhi through colorful paintings.
In addition to the drawing competition, the children sang patriotic songs and shared their thoughts on the significance of the day. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the competition, and all participants received sweets and consolation prizes in recognition of their efforts.
To further commemorate the occasion, a Prabhat Pheri (morning procession) was also organized by the Mahila Congress at Bambooflat, spreading the message of peace, unity, and non-violence, values embodied by Mahatma Gandhi.
The Mahila Congress continues to uphold Gandhiji’s ideals and remains committed to fostering national pride and solidarity through such events.
