Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: In a significant initiative to combat the illegal liquor trade, the PS Kalighat successfully executed a raid on 02/10/2024, at a residence of a bar owner in Kalighat. This operation led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of unlawfully stored alcohol.
Acting on confidential information, the dedicated team led by SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat and consisiting of HCs Ashok Sammadar, C.G Kindo, PCs Subrata Biswas, Manikandan, Abdul Sameer, and K.K Pandey. Their efforts resulted in the recovery of 61 bottles of 180ml, 4 bottles of 750ml, and 2 bottles of 375ml of IMFL, in addition to 5 bottles of beer, all of which were company sealed. Irregularities in storage and sales of liquor in a bar situated in Kalighat were also identified. Subsequently, the accused namely Nityanand Roy S/o Late S.C Roy R/o Kalighat has been issued notice 35(3) BNSS for further legal action against the accused and proceedings for cancellation of bar’s license has been initiated as per the Excise Regulations.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur and overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
