Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 30: Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) conducted Phase III of the Ex-Servicemen Outreach Programme for veterans residing in Kamorta and Nancowry Islands from 25-28 Sep 24. The main event was inaugurated by Commander Phani Kumar Nadendla, Commanding Officer, INS Kardip, on 28 Sep 24 at the Community Healthcare Centre, Kamorta.
A medical screening camp for civilians was also organized by HQ ANC at Community Health Center (CHC) Kamorta. Medical specialists, including an ophthalmologist and dental from INHS Dhanvantari and the Integrated Medical Station (IMS), were present to assist the local population. A total of 126 persons from Kamorta and Nancowry Islands attended the camp.
ANC’s commitment to veterans encompasses several key aspects, namely quality healthcare through health camps and tele-medicine services, pension queries, financial support, mental health, counseling services, community and social engagement as well as logistical and transportation assistance. This ensures that veterans in the region receive the care, recognition and support they need for a dignified life after their service, despite the unique challenges posed by the islands’ geography.
Phase I was conducted for ex-servicemen in the North & Middle Andaman districts from 27 Apr to 01 May 24 and Phase II took place at Campbell Bay for veterans in Great Nicobar Islands from 29 Jun to 04 Jul 24, all reflecting ANC’s continued dedication in supporting veterans.
