Port Blair, Mar 04: Dr. S.K Paul, the Director of Health Services today stressed the need for disposing the Bio-Medical waste properly to avoid spreading of infections.
While inaugurating, Dr. Debnath’s Polyclinic & Diagnostic Center at Bhatubasti Junction this morning, Dr. Paul suggested that the clinic can also outsource the bio-medical waste disposal task to agencies just as G.B Pant Hospital does for its proper disposal.
He also added that burning the waste in an incubator creates more pollution and also consumes a lot of fossil reserves of this planet so the better way it to safely dispose it by burying it deep into the ground.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. S.K Paul further said that that Private Sector health services are always welcomed in these Islands. Further he added that opening of new private clinic in these Islands will be a blessing for the Islanders and it will also lead to a healthy competition among the counterparts to provide the best facilities.
Dr. S.K Paul further added that our Islands lack specialists and technology to cater the need of patients with serious problems and opening of private hospitals in Andamans will bring both the specialists and technology to these Islands which will be beneficial for the general populace.
Addressing the gathering Dr. M K Debnath said that General Medicine and Psychological treatment are already available in the clinic apart from that now treatment for child and women and other related problems will be treated in the clinic. “Though the final decision in this regard has not been taken yet but we are considering giving 25 percent concession to patients belonging to BPL category,” Dr. Debnath said.
