Port Blair, Sept 13: In a proactive step towards building a safer and healthier future for students, a dynamic awareness program was successfully organized at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Port Mout. The event was a collaborative effort involving the Police Station Ograbraj, Traffic Unit, Police Station Anti-Narcotics, Police Station Cyber Crime and PRAYAS NGO targeting around 300 students and 15 teachers. The program addressed some of the most pressing challenges faced by young individuals today.
ASI Pal Murugan representing Traffic Unit provided valuable insights on road safety, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic rules to reduce accidents. Insp Pritam, SHO PS Anti-Narcotics and SI Rahil Islam, PS Narcotics educated students on the devastating consequences of substance abuse, highlighting its harmful impact on their lives and futures.
Police Constable Bhupinder Singh representing Cyber Police Station informed students about recent cybercrimes, equipping them with practical tips for staying safe online and protecting themselves from cyber threats. Police Entertainment Team presented informative skits on Traffic rules, Ill effects of Drug Abuse and Cyber-crime emphasizing enhanced understanding of the attendees on the given topics.
Mr. Vijay and Mariya Sheela from PRAYAS NGO took charge of educating students on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, empowering them with a deeper understanding of their rights and safety. SI Devanand Pathak, SHO PS Ograbraj concluded the awareness session by providing brief insights on all the topics and shared important helpline numbers to the children to ease their approach in need.
This vital initiative made possible by the concerted efforts of the South Andaman District Police and PRAYAS NGO was met with widespread appreciation from the children, Teachers and the Principal.
The event highlighted the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and youths, emphasizing the critical role of legal awareness in enhancing community safety and well-being. The awareness session was conducted under the guidance of Shri. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat under the overall supervision of Smti. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
