Port Blair, Sep 01: The District Administration, South Andaman in its efforts to reclaim and safeguard public assets, has intensified its strategic encroachment eviction initiative, ensuring that government land is restored to its rightful purpose. This ongoing operation underscores the Administration’s unwavering commitment to uphold the sanctity of public spaces and enforcing the rule of law.
During the recent phase of the eviction operation at Rangachang Village in Port Blair Tehsil, significant amount of encroached land was successfully reclaimed. Two temporary structures along with plantation were removed from Govt. Revenue land and an area of 500 sqm was restored. Semi permanent RCC structure which were constructed on government land without approval for Cattle shed was also removed and area of 300 sqm was reclaimed to government khaata. Further, around 100 sqm of land illegally occupied land by co-tenant was restored to its original owner at Rangachang village. 200 sqm of land which was encroached in the shape of shop-cum-residence was also evicted and restored to its original shape by the District Revenue authorities. An area of 1100 sq mtrs has been reclaimed in the eviction drive held on 31.08.2024.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has cautioned the General Public that the District Administration has zero tolerance towards encroachment on government land and to refrain from encroaching on Government land. Residents are once again reminded of the importance of respecting government land boundaries and are encouraged to cooperate fully with the authorities to maintain the integrity of public spaces. The Administration’s efforts will persist in the coming days, targeting other areas of the district to ensure that all encroachments are effectively addressed.
