Port Blair, Sep 01: Rashtriya Poshan Maah is celebrated during the month of September every year, with the objective of bringing behavioural change at individual and community level to achieve the goal of Suposhit Bharat.
The theme for current year’s celebration is “Anaemia, Growth Monitoring, Complementary Feeding, Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi, use of technology for better Governance”. Apart from this, planting of trees under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and other general sensitization activities will also be taken up. This UT Administration has launched “Kuposhan Mukt District Abhiyaan” by providing Poshan Kit and other services to all malnourished children through voluntary action by individual, CSOs, PSUs, NGOs etc. This month, focus will be laid upon educating our communities about balanced diet, importance of breast feeding, clean water, sanitation and importance of local and seasonal foods in our diets. Let us also acknowledge and support the tireless work of our Anganwadi Workers and Health professionals who are at the forefront of this Mission.
During the Poshan Maah celebration of current year, a plethora of programmes & events like Anaemia camp for children, Growth measurement drive/Swasth Balak-Balika Spardha and Awareness camp for dietary diversity in complimentary feeding, Shiksha Choupal, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam along with pledge on environment protection and Water Conservation etc. are being organized in collaboration with different departments of A&N Administration and janbhagidhari. I urge people to participate in this campaign and make this initiative a grand success.
I appeal to the residents of A&N Islands to join this mission and make Poshan Maah 2024 a landmark in our journey towards malnutrition free A&N Islands.
