Diglipur, Aug 18: Doctors in Diglipur yesterday joined the nationwide protest demanding justice for the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
As per report, the doctors and staff of CHC Diglipur, PHC Kalighat, PHC Kishorinagar, PHC Radhanagar, social workers, ASHAs, AWWs and general public gathered at CHC Diglipur on Sunday evening and took out a candlelit procession from CHC Diglipur and marched upto Fish Market and walked past Dolphin chowk and Police booth, Diglipur.
The protesting doctors/medics, staff and others, while marching with placards in their hands, shouted slogans: we want justice, Doctoro ke upar attyachar nahi chalega, Swasthya karmiyo ke upar attyachar nahi chalega etc. to register their protest in solidarity with the nationwide protest against the gruesome rape and murder of an on duty resident doctor of RG Kar Medical College at Kolkata as well as to prevent such attacks on doctors and health staff at their workplace. The candle march protest culminated at CHC premises, a source said.
