Diglipur, Aug 05: The BJP District President, Diglipur, North Andaman Mrs. Suniti Halder
has submitted a representation of various issues impeding the development of Diglipur Sub-Division to the honourable Lieutenant Governor, A & N Islands today and prayed for their early solution.
According to information, there are several issues which are reportedly encumbering all the developmental works in Diglipur Sub-Division. Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, Mrs. Suniti Halder, BJP District President, Diglipur said that she mailed a representation to the honourable Lieutenant Governor in which she reportedly raised a plethora of issues.
She said in her representation that the people of Diglipur are suffering as CHC Diglipur is plagued with a number of shortcomings. There is no ophthalmologist for the last two years in the CHC. Expectant mothers are facing severe difficulties owing to non-availability of the facility of a gynaecologist here in the CHC, she informed. There is a dire shortage of general physicians and patients are not getting the adequate health service, she said. There is no bilirubin testing facility and as a result of which jaundice patients are suffering, she claimed. There is no ultrasound machine and its facility and hence patients have to go to the referral hospital GB Hospital Port Blair.
The BJP District President further said that a number of fire accidents occurred in different places under Diglipur Tehsil over the last few years. But, the Administration hasn’t paid any compensation to any of the victims of the fire accidents. Hence, necessary compensation is extended to the fire victims, she demanded. Raising the farmers’ concern, she said that the farmers of Diglipur are facing severe difficulties in their crop cultivation owing to non-supply of fertilizers like urea & Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) from the Agriculture Department, Diglipur for the last many months. And hence, the farmers are being compelled to reportedly buy these two fertilizers at an exorbitant price (Rs. 6000/- per bag) from the open market.
This is how they are receiving double blows to their profession: one from the Agriculture Department owing to non-supply of fertilizers and the other from the exorbitant price that they have to incur to purchase the fertilizers from the market. Hence, a step is taken to make available the fertilizers to the farmers of Diglipur, she demanded. She further said that she personally visited the quarries of Diglipur where she observed that these quarries are going to exhaust within a short span of time and the developmental works will come to a grinding halt once the stones exhaust at the quarries.
She demanded that new local quarries be allotted on priority. There is no Executive Engineer in CD, APWD, Diglipur after the retirement of the last EE in CD, APWD, Diglipur. On the other hand, there is no Executive Engineer in PRIs for Diglipur since 2020 as well. And hence, works in CD, APWD, Diglipur as well PRIs are being reportedly severely affected, Mrs. Suniti Halder said in her representation. Hence, immediate posting of these two EEs in the respective departments are a demand of the situation, she said. These factors are a hindrance to the holistic development/progress of Diglipur and if these issues aren’t resolved shortly, she would be left with no other option but to come out to the street and resort to a mass agitation, she threatened.
