Port Blair, July 02: Directorate of Social Welfare remains dedicated to promoting a healthy and drug-free society through its innovative initiative, the Awareness cum Fitness Programme, commonly referred to as the Hasgulla Club, as part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign). The event, which took place on Saturday from 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM, was met with enthusiastic participation from the local community, reflecting a shared commitment to fostering a healthy and drug-free society.
Hasgulla Club initiative combines physical fitness with drug awareness. Saturday sessions are led by Ms. Gayatri trained yoga Instructor from Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), South Andaman and Sunday sessions are programmed by Shihan M.S. Murgan, an expert in physical fitness and mental health. The program also includes contributions from Doctor at the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), South Andaman. They offer comprehensive yoga classes, highlighting the benefits of yoga and meditation in combating drug addiction and promoting mental well-being.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), joined the program and inspired participants with a motivational address. He highlighted four important points about drug abuse and how to avoid drugs in daily life: *Awareness: Understand the harmful effects of drug abuse on physical and mental health. *Support Systems: Seek help from family, friends, and community resources to stay drug-free. *Healthy Lifestyle: Engage in regular physical activities like yoga and exercise to maintain a balanced and healthy life. *Positive Environment: Surround yourself with positive influences and avoid situations that may lead to drug use.
The Directorate of Social Welfare invites all interested individuals to join the transformative Hasgulla Club program.
