Port Blair, Mar 22: Team India Dominates 6th International & Thai Martial Art Games in Phuket 2024 in display of unparalled skill and determination, Team India has emerged triumphant at the 6th International & Thai Martial Art Games held in Phuket, Thailand from March 9th to March 17th, 2024. Organized by the World Sqay Martial Art Association at the prestigious Saphan Hin Indoor Stadium, this event witnessed fierce competition from teams representing six countries including Uzbekistan, Netherlands, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and India. Under the esteemed guidance and Training of Grand Master Dr. M.D. Selvam, World Sqay Martial Art Association. Ms. Seema Devi, led the team as Team Manager for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands sqay team part of Sqay India.
The Islands sqayers of Team India showcased exceptional prowess across various age and weight categories. Comprising 17 highly skilled players, Team India’s performance was nothing short of exemplary. Securing the coveted overall 1st position, Team India left an indelible mark on the competition, leaving Thailand and Uzbekistan in the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The stellar performance of Sqay Team India was highlighted by their remarkable medal tally, with a total of 7 Gold medals, 6 Silver medals, and 4 Bronze medals. Notably, seven Gold medals were clinched by Mr. R. Dinesh, Mr. Potti Kiran, Mr. Rohit, Mr. Arya, Ms. B Gayathri, Ms. Shree Vaishnavi, and Mr. Shafiq Shekh. Adding to the glory were the Six Silver medals secured by Mr. Anees lftikar, Ms. Drishya, Mr. Daniel, Mr. Varun, Mr. Hariharan, and Mr. Ujwal kr. Bala, along with the four Bronze medals bagged by Mr. Khuda Baksh, Mr. Mahesh Raja, Mr. Nithin, and Mr. Dhanush.
Team India’s exceptional performance not only underscores their individual skill but also reflects the collective dedication and training they have undergone.
