Port Blair, Mar 11: In a momentous occasiongraced by distinguished guests, the Tribal Development Council proudly inaugurated the Maritime Training Institute today at RGT Road Port Blair through skill development. same was honoured by the presence of Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, who served as the Chief Guest for the event.
Shri Keshav Chandra commended the initiative undertaken by the Tribal Development Council, highlighting its profound impact on tribal youths and the broader community. He emphasized the importance of equipping the younger generation with skills that align with the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
“The launch of the Maritime Training Institute reflects our commitment to fostering inclusive growth and empowering marginalized communities,” remarked Mr. Keshav Chandra. “By providing access to high-quality training and career opportunities in the maritime sector, we are not only enriching individual lives but also contributing to the socioeconomic development of the region.”
The Chief Secretary Mr. Keshav Chandra pledged the continued support of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration towards initiatives aimed at uplifting tribal communities and promoting sustainable development.
Under the leadership of Mr. Rasheed Yusuf the Chairman of the Maritime Training Institute, the institute is poised to become a beacon of excellence in maritime education and training. With a comprehensive curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities, the institute is well-positioned to nurture a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of the maritime industry. Mr Amaan Pasha, Principal have been appreciated for his hard work and to take day to day management of the institute.
The launch event witnessed by gathering of esteemed dignitaries, Harbour Master Capt. Pramod Kumar, Mr. Rayhaan Pasha, Tribal leaders, Tribal Council of Nicobar group , Member of ICCI, and representatives from the maritime sector.
