Port Blair, Feb 21: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kamorta in collaboration with ITI, Arong organized District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament Programme today on 21/02/2024 at ITI, Arong in which more than 80 youths from nearest villages as well as ITI students participated. The objective of the programme is to create an institutional platform at various levels where youth can articulate their views on various issues and draw the attention of the higher authorities to such issues/concerns affecting their lives and to educate youth about various initiatives of the government and discuss its impact. On the occasion Mr. Anthony Boniface, 1st Captain, Arong village was the chief guest and he inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp with other resource persons Mrs. Sunita, CDPO, Car Nicobar, Mr. Rumman Mohd. Muthai, Agriculture Deptt., Car Nicobar, Mrs. A. Selvi, Prinicipal (incharge), ITI Arong. Earlier Mr. Alphonce Toppo, Deputy Director (OSD), NYK, Car Nicobar welcomed and briefed about the programme.
The programme started with the speech on MYBHARAT portal Registration and Briefing by Miss M.A. Stephila, National Youth Volunteer, NYK, Car Nicobar. Second session was on Narishakti and under the session Mrs. Sunita, CDPO, Car Nicobar spoke about women empowerment through NariShakti vandan Adhiniyam, Beti Bachao and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana etc. Third session on the topic of Millets was delivered by Mr. Rumman Mohd Muthai, Agriculture Deptt, Car Nicobar.
The last session – Mock Parliament on the topic of Vocal for Local was conducted under the leadership of Mr. N. Tejeswar Rao, Instructor, ITI, Arong. Under the mock parliament the speaker commenced the session. An opening statement was presented by the Prime Minister on the issue selected. Opinions were suggested from ruling leaders and opposition leaders. Open discussion was also held on the topic. Questions were also raised from participants.
At last a vote of thanks was proposed to the chief guest, resource persons and participants.
