Port Blair, Jan 25: The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), N&MA under the visionary guidance of Mr. Ankit Yadav, IAS, (Deputy Commissioner, North& Middle Andaman) successfully celebrated the “National Girl Child Day” on 24th January, 2024.The day consistently focuses on promoting girls’ right and opportunities, with an emphasis on education, skills and enabling them to reach their full potential.
The event, held at Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium, Rangat was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the Chief Guest, Mrs. Sapna Mole, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner of Rangat, the Guest of Honor, Mr. Rahul L Nair, DANIPS, SDPO of Rangat, and the Special Guest, Dr. Karishma Prasad, Medical Officer (Ayurveda) of CHC Rangat. The program also had the honor of the presence of Dr. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Education Officer, Rangat and Mrs. Uma Devi, CDPO, ICDS Project, Rangat.
A week-long series of activities are conducted to mark this significant day, emphasizing the importance of empowering and nurturing our girls. The cultural events showcased the talents of girls in dance, music, and art, providing a platform for self-expression. Prizes are distributed among winners.
The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony where the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of empowering girls for the progress of society. The Guest of Honor highlighted the role of law enforcement in ensuring the safety and security of girls, while topics on effects of Child Marriage & Underage Pregnancy, Good Touch Bad Touch& Childline-1098 and Right to Education were highlighted by Special Guest.
The DCPU expresses gratitude to all the dignitaries, guests, and participants for their support in making the National Girl Child Day celebrations a resounding success.
