Port Blair, Jan 25: Andaman and Nicobar Islands are all set for the grand celebration of the ’75th Republic Day-2024′ in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, aligning with the nationwide festivities tomorrow. The Republic Day, marked annually with a ceremonious parade, will be commemorated in A&N Islands with the main event taking place tomorrow along the Marina Park road stretch.
The detailed schedule for Republic Day-2024 outlines that Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), the Lt. Governor, A&N Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, will unfurl the National Tricolor at 8.37 am. This will be followed by a captivating flypast by a helicopter carrying the National Flag. Subsequently, the ceremony will include the presentation of medals, gallantry awards, and the distribution of LG’s Commendation Certificates by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor.
Following the awards ceremony, the Lt. Governor will address the Islanders. Before joining the main event, a visit to the National Memorial Cellular Jail is scheduled, where the Lt. Governor will lay a wreath at the ‘Martyr’s Column’.
The centerpiece of the Republic Day celebration is the march past, featuring contingents from Defence Forces, Police, NCC contingents, and school students (both boys and girls). The event will also showcase tableaux presentations by different Departments, with a special highlight this year being a thrilling ‘Dare Devil Bike Show’ by IRBn. Additionally, cultural programs by school children will add to the grandeur of the Republic Day function at Marina Park road, concluding with the rendition of the National Anthem.
