Port Blair, Jan 22: Directorate of Social Welfare has initiated an innovative program, Awareness Cum Fitness Programme (Hasgulla Club), as a part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign). The club aims to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle through a combination of fitness activities and laughter therapy.
The 17th Awareness Cum Fitness Program took place at Joggers Park on Sunday, from 6 AM to 7:30 AM. The event saw a great turnout, with 30 local participants taking part in a refreshing morning routine. The expert guidance of Shihan M.S. Murgan, an esteemed Ex. Sub Inspector of A&N Police (IRBN) and renowned laughter and yoga advocate, made the session truly inspiring. He emphasized the importance of yoga and aerobic exercises in daily life, providing valuable insights to the participants.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), highlighted the numerous benefits of laughter therapy and regular exercise, both for physical and mental well-being. The program aligns with the broader goal of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, aiming to create awareness about the detrimental effects of substance abuse while promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
The Drug Awareness cum Fitness program at Joggers Park is set to become a regular Saturday and Sunday fixture, inviting the community to partake in this life-affirming initiative from 6:00 AM till 7:30 AM until the end of March. Through this program, the Directorate of Social Welfare seeks to engage with the local community and promote a culture of wellness and positivity.
