Port Blair, Jan 18: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member of BJP and Former State President BJP, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has penned a letter to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, urging the construction and installation of floodlights at Netaji Stadium in Port Blair.
Highlighting the immense popularity of cricket in India and its significant role as a beloved sport, Mr. Jolly emphasized that cricket is no less than a religion for many. He underscored the growing importance of night cricket in the past few decades, expressing the desire for cricketers and cricket enthusiasts in the Islands to enjoy playing and watching cricket in day and night formats.
In his letter, Mr. Jolly drew attention to the historical presence of floodlights and towers at Netaji Stadium, which facilitated night cricket. Regrettably, these facilities have deteriorated over time, leading to the discontinuation of night cricket. To reignite enthusiasm for cricket and other sports, Mr. Jolly proposed the urgent construction and erection of floodlight towers at Netaji Stadium.
Concluding his letter, Mr. Vishal Jolly earnestly requested the Chief Secretary to take prompt and necessary measures to initiate the construction of towers and installation of floodlights. The aim is to revive night cricket at Netaji Stadium, providing a conducive environment for sporting activities at all hours.
