Port Blair, Jan 03: Mr. TSG Bhaskar, Chairman, Campaign Committee, A & N Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), has penned a crucial letter to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, shedding light on pressing challenges faced by National Health Mission (NHM) employees. With a visionary goal of achieving universal access to quality healthcare, NHM staff, contributing over 15 years of commendable service, played a pivotal role in India’s COVID-19 battle.
Despite their significant contributions, NHM employees face persistent concerns, including job security, low salaries, and social and economic uncertainty.
The key issues outlined in the letter are:
• Non-payment of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) contributions since April 2016.
• Non-implementation of NHSRC, MOH & FW guidelines covering, staff engagement till age of retirement, hardship allowance, insurance provisions, and grievance redressal policies.
• NHM Employees’ salaries falling below minimum wage rates.
• Implementation of the ESIC scheme.
He also highlighted the negligence and mis- management of State Health Society officials in addressing these issues and welfare schemes for contractual staff.
Mr. TSG Bhaskar emphasized the importance of resolving these matters for the continued dedication and commitment of NHM workers in promoting and strengthening primary and secondary health care services of our UT.
